This is a painting exercise completed for my beginning painting class in which students were asked to recreate a remix of paintings from three different artists. The artist and paintings I chose were Jerrell Gibbs’ The bird whisperer, Paul Cezanne’s Apples, Peaches, Pears, and Grapes, and Louise Fishman’s Untitled. The point was not to capture an exact likeness but to match colors to the best of the student’s ability.
I created a digital image to put them all together and they worked from that. The painting took about 18 hours to complete. The work I produced in this study will be included in the school’s accreditation art show in spring 2022.
